The Proposal
It was Chris's birthday and he decided to surprise me and take me to New Zealand for a week, his birthday and I get the present?. He had always wanted to go and he got some DIRT cheap flights. So off we went, hired a car, Tim had it all planned down to the finest detail and the day before we got there it SNOWED, the whole country got shut down and all Chris's plans went out the window but we reorganised and it all worked out, we just did the last things first and visa versa.
Milford Sound is a long way from nowhere so we had to start out before dawn to achieve the schedule, the problem was it was snowy and icy so the curvy roads were dangerous, luckily we drove behind a local worker so we could see any problems early.
When we got to the port at Milford we discovered that the boat that holds 200 only had us and another couple boooked ! so we had the bottom deck and they had the top.

 I was nervous as hell, I'd never asked anyone before and I wanted to do it differently, I certainly didn't want an audience nor "drop on one knee". I planned it for when we got to end of Milford Sound, I thought "if Andrea says no then at least she'll never forget it"! It was FREEZING, I wanted to ask on the front of the boat but Andrea was too cold and went inside, luckily there was only 4 ! people on the boat that normally takes 200, probably as it was off season and so cold, anyway we got to the end of Milford Sound, the sun was just over the horizon as the mountains block it for most of the day.
I went up to Andrea and... we'll thats between us sorry, but she said yes, in shock and before we got back to port she had made 90% of the wedding decisions. | |

 Well! Chris doesn't drink Champagne but he kept going on about how his mum gave him $50 for his birthday and wanted to buy some nice Champagne, little did I know what for. It was freezing on the boat, it was so beautiful but I just couldn't stay outside so I went inside and stood next to a heater and watched tim all excited about taking photos as he's always wanted to visit Milford Sound. So Chris comes inside for a moment and walks up to and says .... we thats for me to know, sorry.
I couldn't believe it, I asked him twice to repeat himself as I was so shocked, he said he wasn't going to ask 3 times and I said yes. |
